We are going to Death Valley for a third trip later this year, February 2017. We like to have 5 days for a trip to Death Valley. See our ride calendar for details. Below are some photos from previous trips where we rode the bigger bikes from home to the desert. This year we will trailer our smaller dirt bikes so we can do more difficult terrain.
Feb 2016 we road from Sacramento to Death Valley for a couple of days of riding. We did this ride only two weeks after doing the Raw Hyde Adventure training camp. Was nice to come back down to Death Valley. Great get away in the winter. Death Valley is best to go in January or February.
I have been here with www.gpskevin.com for his dual sport ride twice before taking Vicky on this adventure. The more you know the safer the ride will be for you and your friend.
Before I took to Vicky to Death Valley, we did a little eduction at Rawhyde Adventures training. It was a great opportunity for learning skills to take large bikes off road. Vicky gained a lot by the training and we highly recommend Rawhyde. To learn more about Rawhyde CLICK HERE. Vicky was not happy with the accommodations, but the training was fantastic and fun. After the training we elected to go with Rawhyde to Camp Alpha. This was a great camping trip on motorcycles to Trona, near death valley and involved some sand riding in canyons, good practice for the big adventure.
The first two of these were taken in Titus Canyon a must do for all riders, it is not very hard and is very scenic. The Charcol kilns are worth a visit near the Trona entrance very easy road. The last three photos are from Mengal pass, this is pretty hard. Take help with you. I haven’t done it on a big Adventure bike yet. And I am hoping to see if I can Get Vicky up there. Mengal pass can be covered with snow. When I have been there in January of 2013 and 2014 it was perfect.
Echo canyon is another hard way, but very doable with a little assistance.
